BA Studies
Bachelors of Arts in Biblical Studies
The Bachelors Degree in Biblical Studies emphasizes developing a command of the Old and New Testaments, their content, context and thematic structure. The core courses focus on the student developing a basic framework for analyzing the key themes as well as an in-depth comprehension of the books themselves. In addition, the student will develop a concrete knowledge of their historical framework.
BA 101 OLD TESTAMENT SURVEY I (3 CR)
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
This course covers the essential themes of the Old Testament from Genesis through Job. Emphasis in placed on understanding the major themes that surface throughout the books. Students will be able to explain and apply these themes to the essentials of the Christian faith.
BA 102 OLD TESTAMENT SURVEY II (3 CR)
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
This course covers the essential themes of the Old Testament from Psalms through Malachi. Emphasis in placed on understanding the major themes that surface throughout the books. Students will be able to explain and apply these themes to the essentials of the Christian faith.
BA 103 HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVES OF THE OLD TESTAMENT (3 CR)
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
This course provides a backdrop to integrate the books of the Old Testament and the key events that shape the destiny of God’s people. Emphasis is placed on the development of the Israelites as God’s chosen people and how the surrounding cultures impacted and were impacted by them.
BA 104 MINISTRY OF THE OLD TESTAMENT PROPHETS (3 CR)
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
This course covers the role, function, and revelation of the Major and Minor Prophets of the Old Testament. Emphasis is placed upon the major themes expressed by the prophets in their ministry to the Israelites.
BA 105 OLD TESAMENT WISDOM AND POETRY BOOKS (3 CR)
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
This course provides an in-depth review of the books of Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon and Lamentations. Emphasis is placed upon the principles conveyed in these books and the application of these truths to the Christian faith.
BA 106 NEW TESTAMENT SURVEY I (3 CR)

This course covers the essential themes of the New Testament from Matthew through Acts of the Apostles. Emphasis in placed on understanding the major themes that surface throughout the books. Students will be able to explain and apply these themes to the essentials of the Christian faith.
BA 107 NEW TESTAMENT SURVEY II (3 CR)

This course covers the essential themes of the New Testament from Romans through The Revelation. Emphasis in placed on understanding the major themes that surface throughout the books. Students will be able to explain and apply these themes to the essentials of the Christian faith.
BA 108 NEW TESTAMENT HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVES (3 CR)
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
This course provides a backdrop to integrate the books of the New Testament and the key events that shape the growth and development of the Church. Emphasis is placed on the way the New Testament writings were used shape the doctrine and practices of the first Christians and how they affect us today.

This course provides an in-depth examination of the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Emphasis is placed on an understanding of the major themes, their comparative perspectives of Jesus, and the audiences to whom they were written.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
This course provides an in-depth examination of the book of Genesis. Emphasis is placed upon the role of the book in establishing foundational truths upon all others books are based, and the historical backdrop provided.
BA 122 THE PENTATEUCH (3 CR)
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
This course covers Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy as a cohesive message expressing the core teachings of the Torah. Emphasis is placed in understanding the nature of God’s instructions and their application to the Church today.
BA 123 THE JUDGES AND KINGS OF ISRAEL (3 CR)
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
This course provides an in-depth examination of the role and function of the series of Judges and Kings of ancient Israel. Emphasis is placed upon the impact on the development of God’s chosen people towards fulfilling their purpose.
BA 124 BIBLE CUSTOMS AND CULTURE II (3 CR)
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
This course provides an introduction to how knowledge of the customs and culture of the Bible enhances comprehension. Emphasis is placed upon the major customs and cultural practices.
BA 125 THE FEASTS OF ISRAEL (3 CR)
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
TThis course provides an introduction to the role and function of the Feasts of Unleavened Bread, Pentecost, and Tabernacles. Emphasis is paced upon the feasts as a picture of Jesus as the Messiah and the nature of their fulfillment in the Bible.
BA 126 INDEPENDENT STUDY OF THE OLD TESTAMENT (3 CR)
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
This course provides an opportunity for the student to develop and research the Old Testament topic of their choosing. Faculty approval of the topic is required.
BA 127 THE PAULINE EPISTLES (3 CR)
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
This course provides an in-depth review of the letters attributable to Paul. Emphasis is placed on the key themes that are consistent with his calling and the correlation of his ministry to the Book of the Acts of the Apostles.
BA 128 THE GENERAL EPISTLES (3 CR)
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
This course provides an in-depth review of the letters attributable to James, Peter, John, and Jude. Emphasis is placed on their individual and collective contribution to the fullness of the doctrine of the traditional Christian faith.

This course provides an introduction to the underlying influence of the Hebrew roots of the Old and New Testaments. Emphasis in placed on encouraging the student to cultivate an interest in the topic.
BA 131 COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF CULTS (2 CR)
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
This course provides an opportunity for the student to research the belief systems of various organizations who are perceived to be Christian but do not hold to the essential doctrines of the Christian faith. Emphasis in placed on identifying where and how their doctrinal positions and practices diverge.
BA 132 THE PATTERN OF WORSHIP (3 CR)
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
This course examines the concept of worship from both an Old and New Testament perspective. Emphasis is placed upon the integration of its real meaning into the practices of the church.
BA 133 PERSPECTIVES ON ESCHATOLOGY (2CR)
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
This course examines the various viewpoints on the end-times. Emphasis is placed on understanding the scriptural basis for those viewpoints and their impact on principles and practices in the church.
BA 134 CALVINISM AND ARMINIANISM (1 CR)
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
This course provides an overview of two historical views of salvation and the nature of man. Emphasis is placed on whetting the student’s appetite for investigating topics in theology.
BA 135 SYSTEMATIC THEOLOGY I (3 CR)
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
This course provides an introduction to the basic elements of a detailed scriptural understanding of the doctrines of the Bible.
BA 136 SYSTEMATIC THEOLOGY II (3 CR)
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
This course provides an in-depth development of the elements of a scriptural understanding of the doctrines of the Bible.
